As the first gay men in our families to get married, it took quite a while for us to finally tie the knot. For us, with our story, we knew our wedding didn’t have to be perfect, but everything had to be right. Not only did the stars align in 2024, including finding the perfect city and venue in San Sebastian for our destination wedding, but we also found an amazing wedding planner in Leire who executed our vision above and beyond what we had imagined.
Leire captured the essences that were important in our story and that we needed to share with and convey to our loved ones, from our struggles and inspirational journeys coming out as gay and Asian to our love of travel and exploration to our deep connection to our Asian American roots and traditions to our love and appreciation of life’s lessons in the children’s book The Little Prince. But we also wanted it to be simple but elegant. We got all of that and more: radiance. What Leire executed was a dream realized, not just for us, but for our family and loved ones. You know it was a special, extraordinary event when your guests continue to talk about the wedding months later and saying it was the best wedding they had ever attended! Our wedding truly was a magical experience for all of us.
Of course, there was the tremendous work and planning to get everything right, to get every detail count, and to make it all seamlessly come together. Behind that work, behind the creativity, was Leire. She was a great listener and thought-partner throughout the process. She was resourceful as she needed to be without compromising on our vision. Her creativity and artistry shone through clearly with the amazing results, from the decorations for the wedding ceremony to the cocktail hour and tea ceremony to the resplendent regal banquet hall to the unforgettable afterparty. Everyone stayed to the end and more importantly, walked away with luminous joy. For us, our wedding was not just a celebration and a testament of love, our love, but also became a work of art, a masterpiece, Leire’s masterpiece, in its own right.
