C&T’s Real Wedding in a boutique hotel in basque country

There is something so remarkable special about working with couples from all over world and C&T, who are from California, are certainly no exception. We invite you to immerse yourselves in the beauty of their love story in Spain, where you’ll be enticed to the shores to say, ‘I Do’.

Upon visiting the Basque Country, they felt smitten with the exquisite setting of Getaria, a fisherman village where the designer, Cristobal Balenciaga, was born. Within this village, you’ll stumble upon a stunning boutique hotel, called Hotel Iturregi, which boasts 8 spectacular rooms that have been individually decorated. Their wedding day was hosted on a beautiful summer’s day, where their alfresco-style ceremony was hosted in front of the hotel entrance where the Basque mountains and azure waters acted as their backdrop.

The aisle was lined with statement floral installations by the team at Endanea Garden, where two bloom-filled columns awaited the couple to exchange their vows. The colour palette of the day offered an enchanting secret garden vibe with tonnes of colourful purple, pink and green hues, serving an elegant and baroque-inspired celebration for C&T. Bridesmaids looked divine in deep mauve gowns, carrying dainty lilac bouquets that were tied delicately with a ribbon. Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen looked handsome in classic black-tie attire, and the bride turned heads in a simple yet stunning wedding dress teamed with a flowing veil.

Following their ceremony (that was officiated by one of the bride’s siblings), guests were guided to the other side of the house with the newlyweds, where welcome drinks and traditional dancing awaited. As part of our planning services here at 20 Eventos, we organised for a watercolour artist to paint portraits of Cristiana and Tim’s guests enjoying the moment so that it could be taken home and enjoyed. The same artist had also discreetly painted a live picture of the ceremony as the newlyweds tied the knot – it is the little touches like this that often have the most impact. To incorporate an element of Basque culture to their celebration, we hired a guitarist, singer and 6 Basque Dancers to dance ‘Aurresku’, the honour dance to the bride and groom. After it had finished, all the guests followed the dancers to the tent for the wedding dinner.

A clear marquee stole the spotlight, filled with mauve and gold lounge furniture, incredible florals in the same colour palette and style as the ceremony, and chandeliers adorned with flowers that hung from the transparent ceiling. Everyone was in absolute awe of the design, which perfectly set the scene for a night with an electric atmosphere. After everyone had wined and dined on a delicious feast, and the speeches had taken place, the newlyweds cut the cake. Incredible lighting led everyone to the dance-floor, where Cristiana and Tim partied the night away with their loved ones. A glitter station was an additional surprise for their guests, in which everyone adorned themselves with sparkly glitter for the rest of the night.

We adored every second of having the privilege to plan C&T’s destination wedding and it’s a joy to be able to share it with you today on the journal. If you have your heart set on a celebration in the Basque Country, get in touch with our team to find out more about our planning services.
